Patient Of The Month - September 2011 - Brenda Brenner

When in our busy lives do we stop and think about the health of our spine?  My answer to that question prior to May 9, 2011, the day I met Dr. Z., would be NEVER.

Through x-rays I would come to find out the road that led me to Dr. Z.'s office began many years ago. Having spent 20 years in the restaurant business I lifted many heavy trays of food, kegs of beer, cases of liquor, etc. I also spent many summers riding any rollercoaster in sight. Add to that, I have had my share of minor car accidents. The final straw would be slipping in a swimming pool while on vacation with my husband, Bob, whom has been a patient of Dr. Z.'s since 2009.

During our week in Jamaica my lower back continued to bother me to the point where the pain was waking me up in the middle of the night. When we returned home the pain was getting worse. I couldn't stand up straight and the pain started shooting down my leg and into the foot. For four days my husband said, "You need to see Dr. Z.". For four days I said, "It will get better". On the fifth day I asked him to call Dr. Z. for an appointment.  That day back in May when Dr. Z. said to me "I can help you", I believed that he and his treatment plan would indeed help me. I have followed his treatment plan, missed no appointments, learned a lot about my nervous system at the Spinal Wellness Class and found the perfect pillow I have been searching for. (Ask Dr. Z. about the Pillow-Pedic!).

It is amazing how much better I feel! My lower back and leg pain is gone. We are still working through some neck issues but I am optimistic that pain will also be gone.

So, do I think about spinal health now? ABSOLUTELY! I stop and think about how I am going to lift something, gave up roller coasters (sorry Hershey Park) and look forward to maintaining my spine through regular visits to Dr. Zabinski.  I think I speak on behalf of all the patients here by saying THANK YOU VERY MUCH for all you do to help all of us feel better and live our best life.

Fondly,
