Patient of the Month - October 2011 - Christine Beard

“I can’t see anything wrong…try this. If you are still having problems in two weeks come back and see me.” For the last 6+ years these are the words I heard repeatedly from various medical professionals. And every time I left their office I knew in my heart they would not be able to help. Being a stay-at-home mom of two young boys, I did not have the time to run to and from testing, appointments and therapy sessions when no one was really sure what the problem was. Sadly I noticed my symptoms more regularly. I was in constant pain from the time I woke up in the morning until the time I went to bed at night. I had headaches daily, which often turned into migraines. I was unable to get a good night of sleep because I hurt. There was numbness in my right arm and fingers in addition to numbness in my right leg, foot and toes. I was miserable, depressed, and as my children would tell me I was “crabby” all the time. At one point I even asked my family doctor if she thought a chiropractor could help. She assured me that physical therapy was the way to go…so I again walked away untreated.

It was not until a recent family vacation that I hit my breaking point. The car ride to the beach and back was filled with discomfort. I could not live like this, my kids deserved so much more. I did some digging on the internet and every one of my problems somehow always led to my back. I immediately sent out a plea to friends and family via facebook for a referral to a good chiropractor in the area. Dr. Z’s name came in as a referral from a physical therapist (oh the irony!) who happened to be a relative of a friend. I called the office, spoke with Darby and right away I felt like there was hope. After meeting with Dr. Z the following week, I left his office in tears and amazement because I knew he was going to be the one.

I have found Dr. Z to be true to his word. He took the time to find the problem and explain to me the source of my discomfort. He assured me he was able to help and for once I believed there was hope. My treatment has been gradual as Dr. Z explained it would be. I did everything he asked me to do and it has paid off. I have gone from visits 3 times a week down to once every 2 weeks. I am no longer in pain. The numbness from my arm, leg, fingers, and toes is gone. The headaches are gone. Four hour road trips are fun again. I no longer have to tell my boys that I am too tired or sore to play with them. Not to mention the amount of energy I have now- amazing! I finally have the peace of mind that I can enjoy life without the pain.

Dr. Z has done more for me than adjust my spine to help me physically. He has helped me heal emotionally and mentally as well. Most importantly he has given my boys back their mom and for that I am forever grateful. So from the bottom of my heart Dr. Z- I thank you and your entire staff for the care and support you have so willingly given to me and my family. You have a gifted talent and I feel honored that you cared enough to share it with me! Thank you!
